KAMIEŃ Atelier × Urbanowicz – Light Between Materials

In the INTERLIGHT collection, two worlds meet: the weight and calm of stone, and light captured within the form of glass. These are objects in which material is not a backdrop – it is a voice. And light becomes the tool that brings that voice forward.

KAMIEŃ Atelier (formerly Modeco Stone), together with Tomasz and Konrad Urbanowicz (Archiglass), has created a collection on the border of design and functional art – sculptural, yet close to everyday life. Stone provides the foundation and structure; glass carries the light – softly and moodfully, with the distinctive texture of handcraft.

The name INTERLIGHT refers to what exists “in between”: between rawness and delicacy, permanence and transience, function and emotion. This is light that doesn’t merely illuminate a space — it shapes it.

Tomasz and Konrad Urbanowicz (Archiglass)

Tomasz Urbanowicz is an architect and artist – the creator of large-scale artistic glass compositions in architecture and the founder of ARCHIGLASS, an independent studio developed for over 30 years.

Konrad Urbanowicz, an architect and designer, has co-created the studio since 2017, designing and delivering objects and compositions in which scale, space, and light play a key role.

In INTERLIGHT, their approach to glass – understood as a carrier of atmosphere – meets stone as a fundamental, stable, uncompromising material.

INTERLIGHT PRODUCTS

The INTERLIGHT collection is a series of objects in which stone forms the foundation, artistic glass guides the light, and the whole creates a calm, sculptural presence in the interior.

INTERLIGHT Wall Sconce – a wall-mounted light form: stone and glass create a soft glow and an expressive shadow pattern.
INTERLIGHT Table Lamp – a glass form rises from a monolithic stone base, while the glass texture gently diffuses the light.
INTERLIGHT Floor Lamp – a stone block anchors a hand-formed glass panel, creating atmospheric light and shadow.
INTERLIGHT Side Table – minimalist and visually light; glass with subtle “rings” brings a sense of movement and depth.
INTERLIGHT Coffee Table – a sculptural glass top on a stone base; the layered glass pattern interacts with light and perspective.
INTERLIGHT Console – a slender form where glass with a soft, wave-like line adds lightness, while stone brings balance and proportion.
INTERLIGHT Table (two variants) – the collection’s centerpiece: a glass top with a unique structure rests on a monolithic stone base, creating a strong yet quiet statement piece.

The Story Behind the Collaboration

This collaboration began with a simple question: what happens when stone – a heavy, unchanging material – meets glass, which can hold light and release it anew? INTERLIGHT is the answer: a collection built on dialogue rather than contrast.

We combined our experience in working with stone with the Urbanowicz brothers’ sensitivity to light and the structure of glass. The result is a series of objects that are both functional and sculptural – designed to retain their relevance over time.
